Welcome! This website focuses on resources, support, and networking for scholars in the humanities. Our priorities include:
1.) Structural changes within the academy to make it a more compassionate, supportive, and equitable environment.
2.) Actions on the personal level to pursue the same goals, changing the academic climate from the ground up.
3.) Calling on more senior/stable scholars to be more generous and more helpful toward colleagues in more junior, contingent, or precarious professional situations.
4.) Ideas for how to foreground empathy, compassion, and resilience in our teaching and interactions with students at all levels.
5.) Rethinking how our research topics, methods, and publications feed into our goals to positively transform the world.
6.) Concrete ways we can help dismantle white supremacy, patriarchy, and neoliberalism within the academy.
We’d love your help in getting this website started. Please let us know via the social media links what kind of content you would like to contribute. This can take the form of blog posts, links to resources, best practices, or any other materials you think would be helpful. Also, we need editors, authors, and contributors with perspectives from all corners of the field involved in the conversation. This is a general invitation to you to get involved in whatever way you see fit (even if just as a reader/consumer of the information).
Please connect with us via the social media accounts below, and feel free to use the hashtag #humanehumanities to brainstorm interventions, plan initiatives, and organize events and meetups. This is a non-hierarchical movement where everyone’s voice is valued and welcome, so we want to hear from you!
